What has been your experience with the over the counter teeth whiteners?
What are your favorites? Which ones work best and don’t make your teeth sensitive?
Brushing your teeth after every meal will prevent your teeth from getting any worse. And of course keeping away from coffee, tea and smoking will help too. 
The crest whitening strips work pretty good. I notice a difference the first few times I used it, but the more I used them though the less difference I saw.
As far as the whitening tooth paste and mouth washes, they don’t seem to do anything at all.

they did not work for me. I finally went to the dentist and their stuff really works. Expensive ($300. for the top teeth mold) but after that, i only pay a little for the whitener. I was originally told to keep it on my teeth for 20-30 minutes, and that hurt my gums; then someone told me it really only works in the first 5 minutes, so I tried that, and it works fine, without burning my gums. I paid to have the top retainer done, and now just use the retainer and gel on the top, and just the gel on the bottom, and I am very happy with the results.
